'Strange Glow Harculo

Works

“Strange Glow: Harculo”, is a Facade reproduction of the Centrale Harculo or the IJsselcentrale power-station (Arch. P.J. de Gruyter cir. 1955). This was a complex array of buildings originally designed for modular expansion, which now meets its fate through a series of incremental disassemblies. This particular part of the building stands as a kind of wound, an opening which connected newer units to the original core structure. In the near future, 450 to 500 sustainable homes will be built on the site of the power station.
Contribution towards IJsselbiënnale 2023

The work is built together with André Avelãs (CNC and assembly) and Roman Tkachenko (carpentry and assembly).
